Bermuda Day is a public holiday on the fourth Friday in May, at the end of Heritage Month, and is widely treated as the start of summer. Since 2019 the holiday has been that Friday. Before that it fell on 24 May, or the nearest weekday when the 24th was a weekend.
The day centres on the Bermuda Half Marathon Derby — the island's oldest road race, switching its start between St. George's and Somerset — and the Bermuda Day Parade through Hamilton, first held in 1979, with floats, bands and Gombey troupes.
Next public holiday: Friday, 28 May 2027.
Public-holiday dates follow the Government of Bermuda schedule.
